I
sold 513 copies of 4 different titles. That’s a decrease of 27% from September.
My
royalties also declined from $748.73 to $595.23.
My
average sales per day were 23.5 in September and 16.5 in October.
So,
I’m still seeing a steady decline in sales, same as the last several months. I don’t
have much more to say that I haven’t already.
I’m
looking forward to see how the release of Where Magic Reigns impacts sales of
The Elemental Odyssey. Where Magic Reigns will be the first full-length novel
sequel, so I’m hoping to see some improvement in sales for TEO.
You have built an audience with DDDD, it is encouraging to know that a sequel to that will likely serve to compound your sales.
ReplyDeleteWhile I hate to say it, since I'm awaiting Where Magic Returns, you might be better served near term by focusing on the DDDD sequel, as Nathaniel suggests. Play to the audience you've already generated. Of course, being so far along with WMR, compared with the sequel may make that a non-starter. Oh, to know then what we know now...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
Nathaniel, Tony,
ReplyDeleteMany months ago I decided to write Where Magic Reigns so I could publish it in time for Christmas. I was expecting ereader prices to get below $100, thus enabling many more kids to get them as gifts and increase the audience for YA novels. Fortuitously, Harry Potter is coming out in ebook soon, and that will prompt even more kids to buy ereaders. So, with two YA books out for Christmas, I'm in a good position to sell a bunch of books. I hope.
In January, I'll be starting on DDDD2!
As an artists you should go where your writing takes you. I agree that DDDD sequel will sell better due to it's built in audience. However, finishing off Magic Reigns can't hurt.
ReplyDeleteThe new cheaper e-readers will bring in a whole new group of people to the ebook marketplace. I see Jan-Feb as a possible time to see a general jump in sales across the board. I think that one should also start thinking about promotion during this time to get one's name out there so that people who are looking for ebook to read will run across your name as often as possible.
I think you have the right idea, and that's write more books.
